Wentworth Primary provides students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills. It encourages students to show initiative and to lead themselves and others to help reach their goals and aspirations.
Our students are encouraged to be responsible for themselves and others; they are motivated to ‘give it a go’ and strive to succeed.
The students at Wentworth Primary have a number of opportunities to demonstrate their leadership skills. In addition to the positions of School and Class Captains, there are also leadership positions relating to sport teams as well as a number of other less obvious situations that require tolerance and initiative.
School Captains are nominated from the Year 6 class and are selected via a schoolwide ballot system. School Captains liaise with the College Prefects and, wherever possible, attend leadership related programmes. They take responsibility for organising fundraising events, and can be called upon to greet visitors and parents and to help with the play activities during school recess. They also form part of the Junior Council alongside the Class Captains and are empowered to discuss school initiatives, values and activities.
Class Captains represent the classes from Year 1 to Year 5. Class Captains are nominated by the members of the class and the teacher. They form part of the Junior Council, meet regularly with the School Captains and are empowered to discuss school initiatives, values and activities.
