The game of chess teaches a range of skills including problem solving, abstract reasoning, pattern recognition and strategic thinking.
Participation in the Chess Club continues to be popular. Every Thursday at lunchtime, students from all year groups (including Wentworth Primary students, on some occasions) go to Mr Brown’s classroom to test their abilities.
During Term 2, a Wentworth chess team competed in the North Shore Secondary Schools Chess Competition where they performed excellently. After 6 intense rounds against 35 teams, Wentworth College finished in a very respectable mass-tie for 9th place, just 1 one point off 2nd place.
